Unlocking the basic tier of PVP items, balthy style.
So, would anyone mind if the basic weapons and armor of the pvp reward system could be unlocked through balthazar faction?
On the one hand, I know the PVP Reward System is supposed to be there for the tournament winners, so that they can display their prestige through nifty stuff. On the other hand, it's getting really annoying seeing the same damn sword skin for nearly every pvp player in the game.
It seems unfair to have material unlocked that is normally available to those who win high-ranking tournaments. On the opposite end, simply predicting the outcome of these events is enough to net some reward points, so it's hard to claim that the basic tier has much value for prestige.
I propose that anything in the Basic category of the PVP reward system should be unlockable through balthazar faction. This would allow some degree of variety within the pvp population, but keep the Fancy and Exotic items for the highest field of play. It would probably also include a refund feature for those who have spent their points already.
The catch? Make each item costly, far beyond 10k. 20, 25, whatever number required.
The trick is simple. Title achievements increase the balthazar cap. If you make unlocking cost beyond the normal cap, only people who have proven themselves in some manner of pvp can obtain them. Therefore, we can make the pvp reward system work for everyone, giving variety as you expand in whatever field of pvp you prefer. At the same time, however, the truly elite stuff is withheld for the champions of the tournaments.
I have no idea, to be honest, what the reception of such an idea would be. Therefore, I ask the group, does this sound like a good principle? Is the variety, combined with the restriction to titles, worth the time and effort?
Your thoughts?

Sounds fair enough to me. Possibly include pet unlocks as well. I wouldn't go over 10k though for an unlock. Until you have 1 of the PvP titles (which really might be fair anyways) you could never unlock any of them due to your faction cap.
Definitely continue to reserve the higher tiers to the tournies though.

Edit: I seldomly PvP and would get no benefit from this. I just think that it sounds fair for those that do a lot of PvP but do not get the tourny reward points.

No, I farmed hard to pimp my char.
And it's faster to farm in pve than in pvp.
Beside, you can unlock by points.

Yes
Which is harder to get? Reward Points or Balthazar Faction (barring the stupid Xunlai House, which should be taken out)? I can get 10k Balth faction easy in RA in about an hour. Getting Reward Points (for me anyway) is about a once every 3 days kind of thing. The way it is now, about 3k Balth Faction =~ 1 Reward Point.

It should have been made *unlocks* for all those PvP rewards in the first place.
Nothing wrong with access to basic rewards with just faction, if the high end remain RewardPoints only. But both types should be *unlocks* not one time purchases that get deleted with rerolling of the pvp char.
Also, the whole mechanic of Increasing Balthazar Faction Cap needs a real use and a meaning - stuff costing large amounts of faction as one payment is the way to do it. Very large (like 100k or more) faction pool should also get a use as an alternative way of rewarding top pvp'ers. White/Black Dye unlocks for PvP item creation anyone?

Just because it's somewhat exclusive, doesn't mean you can't get it. Make a PvE character or do some ATs. It's not that much effort.

PvP is not a fasion show anyway.
And as for the Tourny house, I got a whole point from the Feb MaTs, LOL, so 25 reward points = 4 Creme Brulee and a Lock Pick, MOAR LOLS

next you'll be asking to make bronze trims purchasable with faction or what ? (but ofcourse not silver or gold cause that's for the "real champions"). They're called tournament rewards for a reason, it's because they're rewards for playing tournaments.
If you want shiny weapons, get a PvE char, or work for your reward points. Honestly, it's not like anyone else realy cares about which weapon you're wielding.
